01What is cloud computing?

Renting compute, storage and services over the internet, paying for what you use instead of owning hardware.

02IaaS vs PaaS vs SaaS?

IaaS gives virtual machines and networks. PaaS gives a managed platform to run apps. SaaS is complete software like Microsoft 365.

03What is the shared responsibility model?

The provider secures the cloud infrastructure; you secure your data, identities and configuration. Your share depends on IaaS, PaaS or SaaS.

04Public vs private vs hybrid cloud?

Public is shared provider infrastructure, private is dedicated to one organisation, hybrid combines both.

05Scalability vs elasticity?

Scalability is the ability to add resources. Elasticity is adding and removing them automatically with demand.

06What is a region and an availability zone?

A region is a geographic area with data centres. Availability zones are separate data centres within a region for high availability.

07What is a resource group?

A logical container for related resources that share a lifecycle, permissions and tags.

08Subscription vs management group?

A subscription is a billing and access boundary. Management groups organise many subscriptions for governance.

09What is Microsoft Entra ID?

Azure's cloud identity service (formerly Azure AD) for users, groups, sign-in and app access.

10What is MFA and Conditional Access?

MFA requires a second proof of identity. Conditional Access applies rules like requiring MFA from unknown locations.

11What is RBAC?

Role-based access control: assigning roles like Reader or Contributor at a scope such as a resource group.

12What is Zero Trust?

Never trust, always verify: verify explicitly, use least privilege and assume breach.

13Storage redundancy options?

LRS (one data centre), ZRS (across zones), GRS and GZRS (copy to a second region).

14Blob access tiers?

Hot for frequent access, Cool and Cold for less frequent, Archive for rarely accessed data with retrieval delay.

15What is Azure Policy?

Rules that enforce standards, like allowed regions or required tags, and report compliance.

16What are resource locks?

CanNotDelete or ReadOnly locks that prevent accidental changes to important resources.

17How do you estimate and control cost?

Pricing calculator and TCO calculator for estimates, Cost Management with budgets and alerts for control.

18What is Azure Monitor?

A service that collects metrics and logs from resources, with alerts and dashboards.

19What is ARM and Bicep?

Azure Resource Manager deploys resources. Bicep is a simpler language for writing ARM templates as code.

20What is a service level agreement (SLA)?

Microsoft's uptime commitment for a service, like 99.9 percent. Using multiple zones or regions can raise availability.
